Description

Kazusa Murasaki is a variety that is inherently difficult to grow thick, and while there are many famous trees cultivated as flowering plants, there are very few works that have been trained into the bonsai form. This work is one of those rare examples, a unique tree that displays a magnificent form as a large, stylized specimen. The creator is Mr. Ito from Chiba Prefecture. This is an exceptional piece boasting the thickest trunk of any Kazusa Murasaki, created by a master craftsman who has produced numerous works that have won the Prime Minister's Award and the Grand Prize at various Satsuki Azalea exhibitions.

Provenance

1970年代: 初代園主・和氣洋助に師事して皐月盆栽を学んだ塩谷町の某園にて、上総紫の特性を熟知した培養が重ねられる。元来太りにくい品種でありながら、盆栽樹形への仕立てという稀有な挑戦が続けられる。
1990年代: 千葉県の某園が譲り受け、さらなる作り込みを継続。この園の主である伊藤氏は、各種皐月展において内閣総理大臣賞や最優秀賞作品を数多く手がけてきた名手として知られる。
2000年代: 完成度の高まった本樹は一度愛好家の元に渡り、各種展示会での受賞を重ねる。上総紫の盆栽樹形としては極めて稀少な大型模様木として、業界内での評価を確立する。
2015年頃（平成27年）: 三代目・和氣佳洋が購入し、現在に至る管理を開始。上総紫の中でも随一の太幹を誇る本樹を、さらなる高みへと導くべく、名匠の技を受け継いだ丹精が続けられる。

さつき盆栽は、季節ごとの手入れの「タイミング」で、樹姿と花の品格が大きく変わります。特に重要なのは、剪定の時期です。さつきは一般に夏（6〜7月頃）に翌年の花芽を形成するため、剪定は「花後できるだけ早く（主に6月）」に行うのが基本です。

和洋園の「預かりサービス」では、単に枯らさないための維持ではなく、花後剪定→夏の花芽形成→秋冬の樹勢維持という、さつきのサイクルに合わせて年間管理を組み立てます。到達したい姿を踏まえて、適期の作業を積み重ねていくのが特徴です。

年間管理スケジュール

春（芽動き〜開花）

芽出し管理（芽の整理・樹勢と枝数のバランス調整）
水管理（用土の状態に応じて調整）
